About Me

“The potential possibilities of any child are the most intriguing and stimulating in all creation.”
— Ray L. Wilbur, third president of Stanford University Tania Steyn

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamt of becoming a mother and always knew I wanted to work with children. Becoming first an occupational therapist and then a mother of two beautiful children, I couldn’t be happier. While hosting workshops for mothers and their babies, I was always on the lookout for ways to best stimulate our children’s development, as well as our parenting skills.

My search took me down many roads and I explored to my heart’s content. I was obsessed with the need to understand who we are and why we are here, and now I had to help my children answer these questions as well! If there was information available out there, I was going to find it and I left no stone unturned in my quest.

It was only when I discovered astrology that I started to find some clues to solve these mysteries. I was blown away that a person could read so much about me, my character, gifts and challenges, by looking at a few symbols on a piece of paper. I just had to know how to do this myself and now consider myself a lifelong student of astrology. Knowledge of a child’s birth chart provides you with valuable information from the day they are born and can help you to better understand their unique personality, talents, gifts and skills, as well as their personal challenges and weaknesses.

Along the way I also wanted to learn more about the relationship between me and my partner, as the space between us would be where our children grew up. It was up to us to provide a calm, loving and nurturing environment where they could flourish and reach their full potential. I came across the work of Gary Chapman and became a ‘Love Languages Aficionado.’  Becoming fluent in your child’s love language will positively influence their development and behaviour and speaking your partner’s love language makes it a lot easier to create a peaceful atmosphere in the home.

“The best security blanket a child can have is parents who respect each other.” - Janet Blaustone

One of the hardest things I had to learn was to listen to my gut and trust my inner wisdom. There is a magnitude of information on childhood development out there and well-meaning family and friends may get upset if you don’t follow the traditional road. As parents we have an innate sense of who our children are and what is right for them, and it is thus our job to take the wheel and carve out a pathway that best suits our parenting style and the needs of each of our children. Part of this process is to recognize which aspects of our own upbringing didn’t support our growth and finding ways to break destructive patterns.

Adding astrology and love languages to my experience in early childhood development filled the gaps in trying to fully understand our children and their unique needs and I now work with a holistic perspective, incorporating a physical, emotional and spiritual approach.

Nothing excites me more than trying to help a parent decipher their child’s unique blueprint, and most importantly, how to use this knowledge to create an optimal environment to foster the child’s natural abilities.
